San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) President, Tina M. King welcomed members of the President’s Advisory Council to the Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Campus for the Fall 2025 meeting, where attendees received key institutional updates and enjoyed an exclusive first look at the ongoing renovation of ECC’s Theatre—a transformative $50 million project, aimed at enhancing arts education and community engagement in the Southeast San Diego community. The theatre renovation project is funded through a $35 million state grant secured by California Senate President pro Tempore Emeritus Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) in 2021, supplemented by Measure HH, a bond measure approved by nearly 60% of San Diego voters in November 2024.
The President’s Advisory Council is composed of respected community leaders and professionals from across San Diego County. Their diverse expertise and strategic insight play a critical role in advising the President on initiatives that advance the college’s mission, vision, and long-term impact.
“We are grateful for the Council’s continued partnership and guidance,” said President Tina M. King, Ed.D. “Their support helps us move forward with purpose—ensuring SDCCE remains a vibrant, inclusive, and innovative space for our students and the communities we serve. Having them step foot into our beloved theatre was an added bonus and a reminder of the bright future ahead.”
The meeting highlighted SDCCE’s recent achievements, strategic priorities, and the significance of the Theatre Renovation in creating expanded opportunities for performance, education, and collaboration.
