Student Success

Danielle Nadeau enrolled in the Information Technology programs at San Diego College of Continuing Education after working in administrative support roles for many years. “Mr. Ron Runyan encouraged his students to refer to each other as technicians,” she said. “This was an exercise that felt silly considering we hadn't learned anything yet. The constant reinforcement of a professional mindset gave me the confidence to actually call myself a technician.” After completing the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) certificate, CompTIA N+ and A+ certifications through coursework available in SDCCE’s ICOM Academy, Danielle was offered employment with Bristol Myers Squibb, a Global Biopharmaceutical Company, as a full time Systems Manager for Laboratory Operations. She now leads a team of technicians, “My colleagues have a desire to learn and build certain skill sets that we don’t necessarily have direct experience for here, so I refer them to take classes at SDCCE.”
