Let's go green together, sustainably is a priority for SDCCE! The Staples Store is offering recycling for all markers, pens, pencils, and much more. Click here for a complete list of items they accept. The list is impressive, and even if you are not on campus, you may want to take advantage of their recycling program for your personal use. For your convenience, there is a labeled box in the Chavez Faculty Workroom, where you can drop off used markers, pens and any other small items on the list that fit in the box. Thank you to Laura Como who has volunteered to take the recycling to Staples Store for Chavez Campus! If you have any questions, please reach out to Elissa Claar eclaar@sdccd.edu from the ESL Go Green Committee.
Free shuttle rides are provided to and from the Educational Cultural Complex for the monthly Community Health & Resource Fair, which will take place on June 5 at the Jackie Robinson YMCA.

President's Updates

I shared the following good news last week with our college: the anticipated rise in the 2024-2025 Campus Allocation Model (CAM) is expected to be an additional $1,583,547. This increase stems from SDCCE's share of generated revenue, which will be implemented gradually. In the initial year, we anticipate receiving an additional $1.58 million in revenue to support the reorganization, with surplus funding available to address other essential priorities for SDCCE. Stay tuned for more exciting CAM updates! Thank you, Chancellor Greg Smith for his support!
Live from the National Conference on Race & Ethnicity (NCORE)! In addition to our SDCCE team attending a wide variety of engaging NCORE sessions. I am also proud to note, this is the first time SDCCE has had presentations accepted at this conference. To celebrate, our team broke bread together in community.
I enjoyed attending the 2nd annual Pillars of Dignity and Justice : A Celebration of Public Defenders with the Pillars of the Community. It was a beautiful event with story telling, history sharing and uplifting from Dr. Angela Davis.
The Research Corner
This week we invite you to check the report Who Transitions from Noncredit Education to Credit Education? Evidence from Iowa and California Community Colleges from the Center for the Study of Higher Education and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan. This report looks at the demographic patterns of students that enrolled in credit and noncredit, students who transitioned to credit from noncredit, and those students that don't transition into credit. Take a minute to review this resource and email jsalcedo001@sdccd.edu if you have any questions.
