Additionally, Dr. Tami Foy, our Executive Director of the SDCCE Foundation, presented on Wednesday, July 24 at the ACCCA Admin 101: Nuts and Bolts of Administration event. Dr. Foy was joined by two other community college leaders in a presentation on "Leadership From the Inside Out," demonstrating how leaders are able to express their character, strengths, and personalities to impact change in their areas of influence.
Congratulations to Dr. Franklin and Dr. Foy on these incredible professional development opportunities!
Continuing their amazing work, our Outreach team recently gave a tour of our Educational Cultural Complex to a cohort from Second Chance, a San Diego organization offering support services to at-risk youth and justice-involved people towards empowered self-sufficiency. The team showed the cohort the campus' welding, plumbing, and automotive programs as resources to learn new skills and start new careers to reenter the workforce and community.

It offers counseling, case management, and support services including transportation, tutoring, housing, and more to ensure students have everything they need to focus on their academic journey. If you know of a student who would benefit from this program, please connect them through the information provided at sdccefosteryouth@sdccd.edu.
Last week, we hosted a great networking opportunity for our Project Management students at our North City Campus. Students were able to mingle with PMCP alumni, meet hiring managers, take a new headshot, win some giveaways, and more!
Thank you to Dean Michelle Gray for sharing this opportunity for our students!

The Research Corner
This week, we invite you to check the report Persistent gaps for Black Californians would take over 248 years to close from the University of California. The latest State of Black California report from UCLA's Black Policy Project reveals that despite a 21.7% improvement in socioeconomic outcomes for Black Californians since 2000, significant racial inequality persists. The report emphasizes the importance of public policy in driving improvements, particularly in education and criminal justice, and urges continued efforts to address persistent disparities. Please take a minute to review this resource and email jsalcedo001@sdccd.edu if you have any questions.
