Dear SDCCE Community,
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for the 2024 Working Group Meeting titled, “Cultivating Strategies for Supporting College Men of Color” at the Educational Cultural Complex in collaboration with the Community College Equity Assessment Lab (CCEAL). The event was a celebration of men of color at our college campuses and an opportunity for higher ed leaders to convene and discuss ways we can strengthen and prioritize support for these students in their academic journey.
We were honored with a wonderful opening keynote speech from Dr. J. Luke Wood, President of Sacramento State University, insightful panels featuring students and administrators, including SDCCE student Chenelson Estiverne and SDCCE Associate Dean of Student Support Services, Dr. Franklin Garrett!

Thank you to the team at Cesar Chavez Campus for scheduling two important evacuation drills this week, October 22 at 11:10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The drills will utilize evacuation maps in classrooms and offices, and ensure that students are familiar with the designated routes and assembly areas.
Faculty will be conducting a practice evacuation with their class ahead of the scheduled drill, following the procedures outlined in the “Evacuation Drill Procedures” checklist and designating a “buddy” for students with mobility issues.
Thank you again to our Cesar Chavez Campus for their commitment to campus safety!

decrease the likelihood of experiencing burnout.
